Mother Daughter Son Celebrating St. Patrick's Day

Today is Valentine’s Day, so first of all… happy Valentine’s Day! But what that means is that St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner. This year, the holiday takes place on Sunday, March 17th, 2024. So, if you’re looking for something to do, you’ve got about a month to make your plans. We thought we’d help by giving you the rundown on some of the activities & events we’re looking forward to right here in Manhattan, Kansas, and the surrounding area.

St. Patrick’s Day Run

We’ll kick things off with the biggest event in the Little Apple! The oldest running event in Manhattan, this is a great way to kick off this fantastic holiday. We’re talking, of course, about the 46th-annual St. Patrick’s Day Run in Aggieville. With over 1,500 runners on average, you can join one of two timed events – a 10K run or a 2-mile run/walk. You can get more information on their website.

Happy Basset’s St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

While a 2-mile to 10-kilometer run is a great way to kick off the day, most people prefer to celebrate St. Paddy’s day with a cold beer, traditional food and music and plenty of green. Happy Basset Brewing Co. is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day celebration this year over in Topeka. The celebration kicks off at 11 a.m. on March 16th and will feature green beer, Irish food, bagpipes and classic St. Patrick’s Day cocktails.

St. Paddy’s Day at The 1890 Ice House

You’ll have to travel a little bit further for this one, but if you’re already in Topeka for Happy Basset’s celebration you might as well make the jaunt over to The 1890 Ice House in Meriden, KS, for a St. Paddy’s Day celebration with Bound & Determined. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the live music starts at 8 p.m.

However you decide to celebrate, we simply hope you have a happy St. Patrick’s Day!
